Finding Hope in the Uncertainty of My Publishing Journey

Last week brought a whirlwind of excitement. I had a meaningful discussion with a publishing company that left me feeling invigorated and hopeful about my writing journey. The representative I spoke with expressed genuine interest in my work, which made my heart swell with enthusiasm. I felt seen and understood, as if my passion for storytelling could truly blossom with their support.

But then came the silence. After that uplifting conversation, I found myself grappling with discouragement as the days turned into a waiting game. I confess, my first reaction was to retreat and focus solely on school and work. That option loomed heavily over me. Yet, a persistent feeling nudged me to push through this challenging phase.

My faith has definitely been tested amidst these swirling emotions. Balancing my commitments feels increasingly difficult, and the weight of uncertainty can be overwhelming. As these feelings lingered, I was alerted to a sermon by Pastor Michael Walrond, who expertly discussed faith and perseverance. He shared profound insights from Joshua 3:4: “Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before.”

What struck me was the truth in those words. This journey feels different—unfamiliar and daunting. I am, in many ways, a different person than I was when I completed my first book. My faith has grown drastically, and I am learning to embrace this new landscape that I find myself in.

Facing the unknown can overwhelm anyone. Nevertheless, I remind myself—just as Pastor Walrond preached on July 13, 2025—that I will discover which way to go if I keep my eyes fixed on the Lord. The road ahead may be uncharted and filled with uncertainties, but it's essential to recognize that growth often arises from these experiences.

As I was typing this blog post, I received a notification that brought a surprising shift in my mood. The publishing company reached out to me! This communication reignited the hope I have attempted to maintain in my Christian journey and also convicted me of the importance of remaining steadfast in my faith. It’s a testament that God can provide encouragement when we least expect it.

To everyone reading, I hope you find encouragement amid uncertainty. The road may diverge from what you envisioned, but rest assured, God’s presence, provision, and timing are always at work. When feelings of doubt creep in or moments of fear arise, remember that greater things may lie just around the bend. Studies show that maintaining a positive outlook can boost resilience and lead to better outcomes in uncertain situations.

Let’s embrace our individual journeys with faith and determination, knowing every step taken in trust is a step toward fulfillment. May we continue to find hope amid uncertainty, recognizing the beauty of the process.
